Game Review
Bayer 04 Leverkusen delivered a commanding performance in the Bundesliga, securing a 4-0 victory over St. Pauli on Saturday. This result was largely anticipated given Leverkusen's superior form and league standing compared to their opponents. The match unfolded with Leverkusen asserting dominance early on, and they never looked back. The scoring opened in the 14th minute with Patrik Schick (GAP +2.8%) finding the back of the net, setting the tone for what would be a challenging afternoon for St. Pauli. Leverkusen doubled their lead just a minute later through Jarell Quansah (GAP +0.5%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse. The second half saw Edmond Tapsoba (GAP +5.1%) extend the lead further in the 52nd minute, showcasing his prowess in set-piece situations. Ernest Poku (GAP -0.3%) rounded off the scoring in the 78th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory for the home side. Tactically, Leverkusen's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, indicating confidence in his squad's current form. In contrast, St. Pauli's head coach opted for a few adjustments, bringing in players like Taichi Hara and Joel Fujita during the game to try and shift the momentum, albeit unsuccessfully. Key performances were highlighted by Alex Grimaldo (GAP +5.7%), who was instrumental in both defense and attack, and Exequiel Palacios (GAP +5.2%), who controlled the midfield with authority. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) statistics underscore the impact these players had on the match. This victory solidifies Bayer Leverkusen's position in the upper echelons of the Bundesliga table, maintaining their push for European qualification. For St. Pauli, this defeat serves as a reminder of the challenges they face in the top flight, as they continue to hover near the relegation zone. The result emphasizes the gulf in class between the two sides and the work St. Pauli needs to do to secure their Bundesliga status. Post-match reactions from the Leverkusen camp were understandably positive, with players and staff alike praising the team's cohesive performance. St. Pauli, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly as they look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
